Recount Underway In Five States
With with the races in Iowa and New Mexico, Wisconsin, Ohio and New Hampshire are too close to call recounts have been called in all five of these states. Reminiscent of President Bush's first election one can only assume that this election will not be decided tonight. As of right now, President Bush has 254 of the 270 required to win the election and Senator John Kerry has 234 of the 270 to win. Let's go to our chief political correspondent Michael Alexander standing by our electoral map. If Ohio goes to President Bush this election is over right now our exit polling is indicating a 48% split between Senator Kerry and President Bush with a split, New Mexico also is split 49% of the vote going to each candidate our exit polling has it going barely to Senator Kerry. Iowa is much like New Mexico except barely leaning to President Bush according to our exit polling. New Hampshire and Wisconsin are both leaning towards Senator Kerry 50% to 49%. Both campaigns have lawyers on the ground in each of these states ready to contest the result of the election. We may very well see an election decided by the supreme court for the second time in 4 years.
We will continue to bring you updates throughout the night and will be closely watching as this election continues to unfold.
